Last Buzz of the Honey Bee

Last Buzz of the Honey Bee

A Poem by Doodley
"

Valiant till death.

"
My Queen, My Queen, the task is done,
Your kingdom is safe, the honeyed halls still run,
Your fountains of gold shall forever flow free,
And long shall you reign over the heart of this bee.

The raiders are vanquished, defeated and bled,
Have turned on their heels, deserted and fled,
Fear no longer in your heart the threat of their King,
Hear only the buzzing of triumph as we sing.

But alas now my Queen, bad tidings I bring,
For in the heat of the battle I gave all my sting,
The last of my life force is ebbing away,
And for me this shall be my climactic day.

And so with this last buzz I bid you adieu,
One final drink of nectar will see my life through,
It's been a pleasure, my Queen, to serve you this way,
For now to a petal and my death will I lay.

Regardless of how aggressive they become when meddled with, those creatures are a wonder in themselves! Working with unimaginable coordination. I know this isn't much relevant to the the theme of the poem but this kind of reminds me of a queen bee fact. A queen bee does not die if she stings you while the other bees do die when they sting. That can be taken in various ways I suppose...lol.
This piece amazingly showcases the sense of responsibility in worker bees...which most humans lack. Great job!

One kiss and death. Maybe a too fast life?

dear Doodley.... your poetry is amazing... as though you sit at a baby grand ebony piano with ivory keys and touch upon the most tender feelings.

Doodley,
Hello. Time to say hi and give a little review for a new author. This was so great. Even within the smallest of natural setting is the dynamic of life and death. Blessings to you..............Kathy

great descriptive words-
honeyed halls is my favorite.

and it is buzzing and active until the

I like it a lot because
the metaphor makes us think of our

while this one remaining to tell it's

Love it! Beautifully crafted...and such a fun theme to write about...both poignant and romantic in a sad, kind of way. Nicely done.
