Last Buzz of the Honey Bee

Last Buzz of the Honey Bee

A Poem by Doodley
"

Valiant till death.

"
My Queen, My Queen, the task is done,
Your kingdom is safe, the honeyed halls still run,
Your fountains of gold shall forever flow free,
And long shall you reign over the heart of this bee.

The raiders are vanquished, defeated and bled,
Have turned on their heels, deserted and fled,
Fear no longer in your heart the threat of their King,
Hear only the buzzing of triumph as we sing.

But alas now my Queen, bad tidings I bring,
For in the heat of the battle I gave all my sting,
The last of my life force is ebbing away,
And for me this shall be my climactic day.

And so with this last buzz I bid you adieu,
One final drink of nectar will see my life through,
It's been a pleasure, my Queen, to serve you this way,
For now to a petal and my death will I lay.

It never fails to amaze me, how well organized and industrious this wonderful insect is and how loyal to their queen. Now here is a poem, that captures their essence completely and lends such a human touch to them. "For now to a petal and my death will I lay" so sad, yet the queen will not lack for such loving little servants. A poem with perfect rhyming verses, telling the story with such flair. Enjoyed and appreciated so much!

Doodley,
Hello. Time to say hi and give a little review for a new author. This was so great. Even within the smallest of natural setting is the dynamic of life and death. Blessings to you..............Kathy

simple yet beautiful
great descriptive words-
honeyed halls is my favorite.

and it is buzzing and active until the
delicate end.
I like it a lot because
the metaphor makes us think of our
own loving battles we've fought
while this one remaining to tell it's
story,

Thank you for reading and reviewing, Bacchus. I appreciate your time and kind words.
Love it! Beautifully crafted...and such a fun theme to write about...both poignant and romantic in a sad, kind of way. Nicely done.

One gallant honey bee this chap is! And one blessed writer you must be Doodley to concoct such brilliant poesy. Your message has a sting to it (pun unintended) and the way the flight of meter between the words adds to the movement of your verses. The lamentation and the tacit denunciation of the Queen's stately ways buzzes through the reader's ears (again pun unintended) and the reader is left with a haunting message at the culmination. This is bitter-sweet and the drone of silence with bidding goodbyes is deafening.

I can never get enough of your writing.
Keep writing.
You are one maverick!
(If not the one!)

Take care,
Best,
M.

I think that block must be gone as this is very well thought out and written. Love what bees do but hate their sting. Nice write. Valentine
