The Broken Shore

The Broken Shore

A Poem by Doodley
"

Dodoitsu.

"
Blessed be those Crusoe souls

Ravaged beneath blood red squall

Wrecked and violently scattered

'Pon love's broken shore.

Beautiful and powerful- yes the shore where those broken souls do lie deserted alone with no hope or belief- hanging on... not even sure if the want to be saved- oh so far far away- hoping to be found- I see upon a deserted island... once finding themselves maybe ...just wonderful🌹

Makes me think of the poor immigrants who travel from far of lands to find shelter, comfort and peace. Who tragically die in the process sometimes. Due to weak vessels, weather and overfilled boats. Tragic, sad and moving.

I like the analogy Doodley. Crusoe was wrecked upon a shore but he managed to build a new life there. His story does teach us that we are basically self-sufficient and preservation of the self is the most predominant instinct in us. Once a violent love is dead, use it’s wretched corpse to fuel a fire and keep warm on the deserted shore.

Very strong emotions and vivid imagery. I really love this poem.

You've captured a dramatic interpretation of Crusoe Island in this wonderful Japanese Dodoitsu, and it is a great first attempt on your part. I enjoy learning new poetic forms.

Excellent writing! Thanks for sharing this one! :)

You're quite welcome.
Had that come up in a quiz. I would have said, dog.
