Forbidden Love

Forbidden Love

A Poem by Sanjukta Sen Banerjee
"

Every other day we stumble accross the massacres of forbidden love-be it for men or women, same kind or the opposite or for material pleasures and wealth beyond need, better known as Greed

"
Toxin in bottle of tonic?
Or time turning tonic to toxin?
Air breeding poison in potion?
Or a potion that is a poison?

Seeds of treachery in pulp of trust
Sinister ploys in innocent smiles
Selfish desires in selfless surrenders
Living nightmares in lucid dreams

Acid drops in much awaited rain
Killer breath in unseen fumes
Snake hidden in blades of grass
Venom hidden in a flower that blooms

Is it the euphoria of mind altering drugs?
Peridition in guise of paradise
Or the fruit of forbidden love?
Or just another leaf from the tree of life?

may it be rated as misjudgment
and abasable confidence too.
surely abysmal,
while drycleaning the pristine word
solely entrusted to Satan.
