I'm Tired

I'm Tired

A Poem by Drama Child

I’m Tired

I’m tired, but not the sleep forever tired.

It’s the tired you feel in your thoughts.

It’s the tired that overshadows your days.

It’s the kind of tired that cripples you

In both physical and mental ways.

I’m not up for your expectations

I’m not sure why you think I owe you.

But my time is my time,

it’s not yours but it’s mine

And my life is not for your speculations.

I’m over proving to you that I’m good.

I’m over trying to convince you, you’re wrong.

What you think about me,

is not what you truly see.

Because you’d be me if you could.

I’m tired of your expectations.

I’m tired of trying to prove that I’m good.

I’ve struggled since birth,

to find my true worth.

I’m not apart of your dramatic creations.

Until we come to terms with who we are and become happy in our own skin there will always be doubts as to our true worth. Age and experience brings the " f**k 'em " attitude where we care not as to people's opinions and are happy with the love of both true friends and family. Enjoyed the read

Nice job. It can be exhausting trying to "fight the good fight" and be who we are. You so elegantly capture it here.

Loved it. Learning to outgrow poisonous people and situations from our life is hard but oh so worth it in the end :)

Come a place and time. We must give-up.

I like the old wisdom. We must like ourselves and reach for personal goals and dreams. Can't make the world happy always. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
