Love Her More

Love Her More

A Poem by Drama Child

Love Her More

I’ll give to her

That

For me

You couldn't.

I’ll be to her

For me

That

You wouldn't.

I won’t do to her

That

To me

You shouldn’t.

I’m going to love her more.

Author's Note

Drama Child
I wrote this for my daughter. Short and to the point.
It's very meaningful to me but I'm not sure if that same sentiment is passed to the reader.
Constructive criticism, questions, feedback, always welcomed.

Incredibly meaningful! Without reading your authors note the sentiment of a mothers heart was strong. That's a wonderful quality to impart in your poetry. For lack of a better word the almost cryptic style adds to the mood but also gives it real poetic presence. Very nice. R x

Love the sentiment. It could be interpreted the way written of other relationships other than mother and daughter. Like a man to an ex moving on to something better. Nicely universal. Suggestion add some symbolism or metaphor. I can relate to this poem easily

I really like this. Having been raised solely by my mum,(along with 6 siblings and then an adopted niece and nephew) I made a point of being to my own daughter, all that I would have wished a dad to be to me. She's a beautifully grounded 15 year old, ( only child) and the ORCHARD of my eye. Love her so,so much.

A pleasure , duh!!!!!!
It sort of comes over as if you were abused, not necessarily sexual. But it did impact on your life.
So much so, you made the pact with yourself it would never happen to your kids.
