If I am a tree then I am an oak

a grand wise old tree

whose canopy of leaves offers shelter

and acorns that bring new growth

If I am a tree then I am a willow

a peaceful place to rest

whose branches are a refuge of serenity

and leaves that whistle in the wind

If I am a tree then I am a palm tree then I am a palm tree

a slender and tropical type

whose trunk sways with the storms

and leaves that offer safe nests

If I am a tree then I am a banyan

an ancient inspiring life

whose roots fall from the sky in a tangle

and invites those of the forest to climb

If I am a tree then I am an arbutes

a riot of colours that lights up the forest

whose bark is ever changing

and shedding old life to make room for the new

You make me want to be a tree! Such wonderful images you let enter the mind, please keep writing! ...Oh and I would love to be a willow, a place for people to rest and feel safe, willow trees have these soft leaves like little furry caterpillar paws that tickle the belly if you sleep right under them. Palm trees are cool too but they make me think of pineapples and pineapples are spiky...
