Don't Let Go

Don't Let Go

A Poem by Karla Ivette Martinez

This poem is from one of my stories about Samantha who is in love with Cameron, but she is diagnosed with a deadly illness, as a thank you, she writes this poem for him

A knot in my throat keeps me in silence and doesn’t let me speak.

It hurts to breathe.

Every time you see the lights remember me because I will never leave.

Every time I was scared, you showed me how to spread my win and fly high.

Now I take those wings and fly beyond the sky.

Let me go because it hurts to breathe.

I can’t find words to say goodbye, and this pain is something I can't hide.

I want to give you every dream I tried to fulfill, but time isn’t enough.

Instead of a farewell, I want to say thank you for making me feel and believe.

Let me go because it hurts to breathe.

Thank you, for your smile that illuminated my darkness.

Thank you, for always waiting for me with open arms, and wrap me in your kindness.

If I could turn back time, I wouldn’t change a thing, to keep you timeless.

Let me go because it hurts to breathe.

I don’t want to say goodbye, but it is the way of life

I don't want to leave, but it's hard to breathe.
