The Dream's Still AliveA Poem by Literary Artist Dream(Dream sequence. A boy plunges deep within cold uncharted waters, coughing violently as he swims frantically through the currents. He succumbs to them eventually, taken as he plummets steadily towards the ocean floor.) Still floating… But I have another literary story for you… I say Will you listen to it? Here I swim I wont be catty Here’s the truth… I say Still floating No need to say how it happened But here’s the truth… Though I’ve never been chatty… Oh, I’m not hurt I’m still alive Hey, I’m not burned I’m still alive Hey, the page has turned And I’m still alive Oh oh… See life walks slowly Across the planes of a literary mind Though it whispers ’’Not waiting on you’’ I don’t wanna remember, anything about it to this very day, accept the sunshine when it chose to shine I was there, but now just swimming through the current I told the truth Oh, I’m not hurt I’m still alive Hey, I can’t burn I’m still alive Hey, the page has turned Know I’m still alive Oh oh… ‘’Nothing’s wrong’’ I say I… ‘’Just had a little accident’’ I say… ‘’And do you deserve to see land?’’ life says. Let me reach it I told the truth Hey I’m not hurting I’m still alive Told you I won’t drown See I’m still alive Hey, haven't you heard? The Dream’s still alive (The boy emerges from the cold depths of the dark ocean, reaching shore just as the sun of a new day emerges from the once overcast skies) © 2012 Literary Artist Dream |
