I wonder who it was, who swept me off my feet,

who's loving eyes and smile, were always there for me to greet.

It Was You....

I wonder who it was, who made me forget my cares,

with just a simple hello, a quick glance or loving stare.

It Was You.....

I wonder who it was, with whom I shared my deepest thoughts,

who's comfort from the world, in his arms I sought.

It Was You....

I wonder who it was, who made everything ok,

who's company I wanted to keep, who in his world I wanted to stay.

It Was You....

I wonder who it was, who found all my hidden hurt,

I had been so careful to hide it, swept under the carpet like dirt.

It Was You....

I wonder who it was, I thought would care for me,

who would always understand, and in my life he would always be.

It Was You....

I remember who it was, who hit me in such anger,

the man I thought I knew so well, who now became a stranger.

It Was You....

I remember who it was, who made me feel so bad,

who took away my happy, and left me with all my sad.

It Was You....

I remember when I knew, I would be alone again,

instead of moving forward, I'm back where I began.

It was because of you....

I see myself now, watching another day go by,

and realize later, what I should have known sooner, that I was told a lie.

Wow incredibly relatable. Loved the repetition. It sounded at first like an airy fairy tale that has no basis in reality, but you brought up the change real fast bringing the reader down to its knees. Good work!
