the cherry red rose

the cherry red rose

A Poem by Drew Peterson

I sit here in the darkness around me.

I can only imagine what a rose looks like.

Blind by the darkness i can only smell that.

Smell that sweet smell of mysterious flowers

Around me.

Cuts on my hands cuts across my face

I can see that dim light in the far distance.

I run towards that light it gets further away from me.

I take a step forward fall into the darkness screaming at the top of my lungs

As I fall into bed.

I reach behind my pillow and pull that soft petal from behind me.

I look closely at it and it is that cherry red.

I really like the imagery in this. Really nice.
In this line peddle should be petal for the rose petal:
"I reach behind my pillow and pull that soft peddle from behind me."
I like how you brought that ending, after:
"I take a step forward fall into the darkness screaming at the top of my lungs
As I fall into bed."
