The Carolina Landscape

The Carolina Landscape

A Poem by David Scott

ever changing… ever glorious.

Today it is a patchwork quilt of forested greens;

chartreuse spring, contrasting pine and moss,

blending into emerald, shamrock, parakeet, basil and pear.

This bouquet is but the appetizer to the florals

hidden in the cool shade

or laughing in the sunlit paths.

My window’s magic view

constantly shifting

as the clouds filter the sunlight,

while the wind quickens the trees

like a puppeteer

choreographing a dance

to the silent music of my imagination.

Oddly, it reminds me of you.

Your essence, hidden within poetic lines,

dancing my imagination

 to the music of…

inspiration.

Your smile writes an invitation

to savor the moment:

to love myself shamelessly,

each lingering gaze revealing

a complexity of appreciations

as I learn to truly see.

Pondering so, I pray

never to be so conditioned

as to ignore the majesty

of loving expression

graciously surrounding me.

it is a beautiful state...and that beauty is deeply etched into my memory, and memories of my mother...who loved the scenic aspect of living in NC for 32 years...

imagery is breathtaking ...

The nature of things and the appreciation of that nature. Makes the trees dance. Makes the heart dance...inspiring love and joy and a deeply profound gratitude. The simplest of things make living so damn beautiful and makes the heart smile. I love it!
