Dreams In The Abyss

Dreams In The Abyss

A Poem by Drone17
"

Even dead gods dream.

"
Asleep in the abyss.
A sleep so thorough with tremors just as deep.
It dreams of the stars, stars drenched in ichor and anguish.
A tomb is where it lays, a victim of time, a prey to languish.
Patience so old, it outlives God.

Asleep in the abyss.
Agony its only companion, a partner in its plight.
With weeps so sheer, it wakes the insane and whispers to the inane.
The broken, the shattered, they all gather to his cry.
Blood spilled in his name, his gaze ever present.
Nightmares that torture, time flows like the ocean that in imprisons him.

Asleep in the abyss.
A god chained by the ramnants of its prison.
Forever mocking, forever a reminder of what it had lost.
Alone in its mortality, alone to all but one.
Warden to his grave, ever-dilligent Death awaits.

As a huge fan of the Cthulhu Mythos, I really wanted to write something about the Dreaming God, Cthulhu. Don't know how I feel about it, I would really appreciate your thoughts!

As a fan and writer of tragedy myself, I found this to be very interesting, especially the word choice. The overall theme was quite enthralling. Good work.
