Resurrect Life

Resurrect Life

A Poem by Sweet & Tender Hooligan
"

This hell kills your feelings. The age of fear has killed poets and heroes. Can anything or anyone resurrect this generation? When life itself needs resurrecting.

"
All the pure voices are from long ago
(If only poets and revolutionaries could be resurrected?)
Cause no-one else can save us from life.

There is no place for poets in this hell
(Crying out words you should have said a long time ago)
Take me back to a time before poetry died
(A time before there were no more rebels).

The spirit of this century is a monument of inbuilt guilt.
This generation needs it's own heroes. Will anything wake us up?
(Neither living nor graciously dead, please save me from myself)
The age of fear has killed creativity. Can nothing save us now?
In search of a soul. If you find one, you'll still need one for yourself.

So many ways all leading the same way. There is only ugliness in cruelty
(So many wars we all face and lose within the mind)
Humanity sacrificed for progress. Celebrity martyrs unjust pedestals for lies
(The truth can hurt but the truth is always more beautiful).

Author's Note

Sweet & Tender Hooligan
Inspired by the films of Derek Jarman; the songs of Morrissey, the writings of Oscar Wilde, Sylvia Plath and Virginia Wolf. And the lost art of pure voices, rebels and heroes.

Now, this is something profound, blistering work love!
The voice of a writer, no matter how old, can be cathartic or be driven to a new form of hell!
Amazingly thought provoking hon, it is alarming but liberating at the same time, creativity knows no boundaries to anyone!
Brilliant work love xx
