The Death of Nonconformity

The Death of Nonconformity

A Poem by Breezie Kae
"

Written during freshman year.

"

You do not have to live happily.

You do not have to agree with some
perception of reality that is the only way
things must be.

You do not have to fall
if you don’t believe in gravity.

All you have to do is simply live.
(Living, just a state if mind.)

But who wants to live in a world
where the sky wreaks of hypocrisy,
and rivers tell time of “never-be’s,”
and trees sing “follow your path.”

Meanwhile, the earth shakes.

Meanwhile, she covers her “hideous” face
because no one could ever love her.

Meanwhile he drinks his despair
through a bottle of pills and a
“never coming back.”

Meanwhile he wakes up on the bathroom floor,
finding nothing but his own blood.

Meanwhile she falls deeper in love with a phantom,
the phantom that taught her nonconformity.

But in this world,
(a world of gravity)
nonconformity is dead.

Nonconformity is just the kids
in denial of being what they hate
(authority).

Or the debate of sacrificing skin,
and anarchy being a form of rule.
Seems I had to learn this too.

You’ll find your place in time here,
when you can breathe without air.

This is really good, I like what it's saying (I think...that it's saying that nonconformity is just becoming another thing to be bottled up and sold and it's becoming conformity)..anyways even if its not what you meant its well written and very powerful.
