It’s Only Rock’n’Roll

It’s Only Rock’n’Roll

A Poem by Duncan Brown

Rock’n’Roll is another heaven

An’ a separate dwelling in hell

It occupies your beating heart

And deals you with a killer song

Strings you out on your mortal path

Trespassing tunes on your brain

Pulsating rhythms in your limbs

Invades your boot strapped feet

Leaves you dancing in the street

Where the good die really young

An’ the bad keep dyin’ very slow

While the music plays on forever

We know it’s only Rock’n’Roll

The greatest substitute for a soul

Eat your heart out Doctor Faust

Doctor Hook has caught you fast

An’ Doctor John has got you slow

The living and the dead are there

There’s nowhere else for them to go

That's why they call it Rock’n’Roll

It’s everything and everywhere

It’s what you see an’ what you wear

If you can’t hear it you’re not there.
