A Poem by Lizzie Madloch

I’m learning to love

Being strong enough to love you

To talk to an empty audience

And exist tangible enough to have enough heart to hold myself up.

I’m learning to fight

All the bits inside me that want to run

And play loud music about being unwanted

Cause i’m realizing

You may not be ready for a new planet

After losing someone you thought was the sun.

She’s not yours and you’re not mine.

And you can hold on to me.

I’m not a lifeline but a heart in solidarity.

(just another thing we have in common.)

Adding another broken pulse.

It’s almost enough of a beat to dance to.
