Icarus

Icarus

A Poem by getinthecarplease

PRELUDE TO ICARUS
In the mirror sits Janus
Past and present and staring
A miniature land of trees
Singing melodically, sweetly
Can they survive for something is glaring
Dear priestess and her light
The answer flaring
ICARUS ITSELF
Dissect the memory
No ideas needed for the flight
Then we'll see everyday
The illusions at play
A prophet in the clearance
An astral seer in the moon ray
Give us love, let us say
Icarus and his disgrace
Confide in the mental lace
Applaud the violet tint of wings
The seeker sings of imagined springs
Confusion enters the void
Blue travels, blue ends
The black and white bring
The masses of peace on strings
We venture in perpetuum
Around the spheres
Variations of academic requiems
We hold the golden aurora
Towards the cadence in the sky
The shy man has gone wry
Catch the distance in his eye
Icarus and his minnows
Peculiar moods in the labyrinth
The heart of the sea captivates
Solids, liquids come to the terms
Retain all forms of Pasiphae
Adjourn the stage, erect the sails
Lament the watery trails
Awaken the seasons
Drown in the route to freedom
The moon has sunk
The captain's melancholy ascends
Her voice is heard
Reveal the wings to the Athenian kings
Remember his light shining from the springs
An ancient song that Narcissus sings
A ritual to raise into the gilded rings
