Rain Dancer

Rain Dancer

A Story by Anissa Amer
"

Something i threw together oneday

"
Everything's dead
Where there used to be green.
The rain hasn't come.
And she suffers, from the scorching beams of the sun.

Still, she lets her hair down
and she prays to the heavens
It's been six months since the last drop.
Maybe next will be lucky seven.

She handles a stick
to draw rain turtle in the sand
She pivots his shell
in hopes to bring rain to this dry heated hell.

Jump from one foot to the other
rain dance girl
Preform all your humming and dancing and spells
Slap the ground, and pray for water.
wish to be the rain god's daughter.

Rain dance girl,
why are the gods so cruel?
When mother earth needs to drink
they bewilder her
fooled..

She dreams of the rain
even for a small shower
she longs for a thirst quenched
to dance in the midnight hour

Rain dancer,
it looks like your dancing did justice
Cause when you awoke, water covered the plain.
she smirked for a moment, only to raindance again.
