N.F.L ( Never Fall In Love) 

The sun is a star wrapped in gold bullion,
So you paint a smile on your face
So vivid,
Da Vinci would roll in his grave with envy.
And-
Even though your milk 
Is cooler than a polar bear,
Or an ice storm, Or a polar bear chilling in an ice storm-
Your frosted flakes wouldn’t dare turn soggy.
Today is perfection
And it isn’t because you recently discovered
You’re a morning person,
No, 
It’s because your in love. 
You want to hold on to this feeling
Like the last seconds before a bomb explodes.
Your love is a bulletproof vest protecting your feeble existence
From realities machine gun rounds.
All the shrapnel in the world couldn’t burst your bubble.
Until,
You ask that one fateful question. 
“ Do you love me?” 
“I don’t know. You’re cute, but the streets got my soul.” 
Suddenly, 
The weather isn’t so warm anymore,
And those Frosted Flakes are nothing but dissolved sugar 
Floating in spoiled milk. 
Not so much of a morning person now,
Are you?

Outstanding! I love how you refer to love as a grenade getting ready to explode or 'bomb'.. because it is and trust me I've been broken-hearted many times and this explains the feelings very well. It's almost the same as being in a relationship for a long time & you love someone, but no matter how much each person says 'I love you' it's just them saying that like it's mandatory.

Yep, nothing quite like that slap in the face to ground one back to reality and dejection! Never being in love doesn't mean never having to feel pain though...it's just a different kind of pain, one devoid of the happier memories to tide you through till the next round.
