The DEvltn of Wrd

The DEvltn of Wrd

A Poem by E.H. Monroe
"

what happens when words go to war?

"

In the beginning, there was the

Word

And that word curved in absurd triangles traced stencils and made sentences

Sentences then sang songs in forms of eons and a graphed the paths of paragraphs

Paragraphs split seeds,

Spit evil deeds and good intentions

And the glow grew 40 stories and the radiance was glorious

Furious was the Darkness and Ignorance ignored the brilliance

They mixed vowels, dangled participles, crossed T’s and dotted I’s

And writer’s block was born in the sighs of demised cries

The consonants constantly ran amok,

Chaos engulfed the grammar

Tragically trimming the wisdom with a dyslexic hulking hammer

Dictionaries cannibalized encyclopedias and Thesaurus saw us

Red pens slinked from the sludge and tattooed the town

Hymns and ballads were the first to go down

And we locked ourselves in the tower of intellect and creation

Our station brke aprt and couldn’t reach anee for communeekation

The alfa wuz flawed and beta got klostrfobic

S-O-S!

Ess-oh-ess!!

SMH, LOL, LMFAO and broken sell fones

Weve mass prodused clones and tumors that eat Poemz

All Phucked now, we stare as the siti wallz collapse

Wee neede Halp, the dronz have breeched the system

Homo fones wit boms disman(tell) tha Wizdom

Is anneeone out there?

Kum bak home

Kum bak h…

Transmission terminated…

Wrapped up in lace and sewiside bombers.....amazing what it has come down to. One thought on the texting language....we all think that its bullshit and ruining our kids lives, but in corporate america, the top nuts would kill for someone to come up with that kind of efficiency in everday business. Sweet writing, glorious message now hold your hand out I'm going to give you a Benjamin for your troubles and then borrow it back so I can put a bet on a game. Soon as I win, I'll pay you back.

Um...this was stupid amazing. oh sorry...dis wuz stooopit amaysing.

On so many levels. First of all...you personified...vilified...literal literature...wtf.
Then you twisted it to phonetic spelling...wtf
text type...wtf

off the cuff no less...you're a mad genius who controls all the peon mad genius wannabees. wtf EH?

If I had to pick a favorite line...tho...I'm not sure I could pick just one, this one was just brilliant:
"Furious was the Darkness and Ignorance ignored the brilliance"-don't really know why, but this one stood out most for me...well, before you switched hit...the words...switch hit the words...not saying you're a switch hitter...ok...I'll shut up now.

Your writing style and insight never fails to amaze me. This one definitely hits home, and your prose as usual demands attention and pulls the reader through it like a rollercoaster built through a burning city. Ignorance is the source of this literary decline.

Scholars claim that Shakespeare had a vocabulary of 20 000 words... most young school leavers in the 21st Century are lucky if they have 2000 different words in their daily vocabularies: like...you know...boss...

Very, very clever and with much insight! This did in fact read words in war with one other in your verse. There was a time I did not understand a word that came out of my sons mouth. Then I listened to a few of his CDs, started talking the talk right back to him and he was floored. It was a priceless moment for me! Many wonderful lines, but the one that grabbed me was "And we locked ourselves in the tower of intellect and creation". IDK, WTF...LOL!!! Couldn't help myself:) Wonderful write!
