Slightly Satantic

Slightly Satantic

A Poem by K. A. Munn

A figure stands by the lake at dark,

The chilly winds break the waves apart,

The black waters seize the heart,

Magnify the eye,

And chain the soul.

Yet this horrifying experience brings,

More euphoria than pain.

Confidence rages within the chest,

At facing such an eerie sight,

For the lake goes from calm to savage,

As the sky turns from day to night.

An uproar of power gushes through the veins,

And breathing becomes heavy,

A kind of darkness in the eyes,

The hands are stiff and steady.

The body numb, the mind alert,

The twin entities at odds.

Enemies from all sides close in,

The woods, and the waters,

No place to go, no place to be,

So where on earth to run?

Standing steady, hands in fists,

Feelings of magnificent power,

Overwhelm the despair,

Head bowed, eyes up,

Evil in the air.

The sky is slow rising,

Turning from black to red,

The lake changes it temperament,

And so you do, inside your head,

You eyes shrink back in size,

The clinking of falling chains ring the air,

The grip on your compressed heart,

Slowly releases it’s hold.

Stumbling, you walk away,

Pretend like nothing happened,

Pretend you didn’t feel the thrill,

The adrenaline of being evil.
