The Day is Gone

The Day is Gone

A Poem by Ekreug
"

a rough day

"

Work is done

It was a tough day

Nothing seems to being going right

I start my walk home

And think no tonight I go the bar

It begins to rain

“I really wish I had my umbrella” I say audibly

At least I have my trench coat

That was sagacious to grab it this morning

The rain has changed it now feels hard

Like bucket of coal hitting my head

Coal being poured from Heaven

Cause even God wants my day to be tough

The side walk begins to freeze

It is quickly becoming a sheet of ice

I go to smoke a cigar I found in my pocket

I remember the shortcut through the park

“S**t”

I see the sign

“Public Space No Smoking”

I quicken my stride to get out of the sleet

Finally I am here the bar

I can’t wait to get a shot

I order a lemon drop

I can taste the lemon, he begins to pour

He returns, “Where is the lemon?”

“No lemons” He says

I panic I really need a shot after today

He says “Only a lime”

No, I will just take it the tequila

I order another and another
