Beyond Silence

Beyond Silence

A Poem by Elaenor Aisling
"

What is it that lies, beyond the silence of the mind?

"
What is it?
That rests there
Beyond the silence
Of the mind?
Beyond thought,
Beyond dream,
Beyond consciousness.
Another world,
Held in our mind
Behind the locked,
Barred doors
Of waking thought
And consciousness.
One that we cannot reach
By dreams or thought
We can only stand
And gaze over the wall
Into our unreachable Eden.
Why is it there?
If we cannot reach it?
What value has it?
If it is unusable?
What possessed God
To put it there,
If it goes untouched?
What lives there
In that sacred garden?
Does God reside there?
When we let him in?
Or the Devil,
When we think ourselves
Above God?
Perhaps it is hope,
Who retreats there
When we have
Given her up
For hope never truly dies.
So many uncertainties,
Without assurance.
So many questions,
That will go unanswered.
At least…for a while…

The poet poses questions I hold just the same........and wonder about often. I really like this one
