The Quiet OneA Poem by Elaenor AislingShe's the one they never seem to see...Her power to disappear Is simply amazing One moment she's there, Standing quietly Barely noticed Like a tree in a forest That one looks at But never really sees. Next she becomes A stone upon the ground Unnoticed Except by the most observant And even then Seen as merely Another common detail to their surroundings. She sits, Immersed in the world Of her own thoughts Her own words Her own feelings Which make up all she is. Though still She observes much, Watching through the window Of her world into theirs She memorizes The sound of their walks Their shoes Their voices That all resonate About her. When they think The details are gone Lost upon the air It is she Who soaks them in With a spongent memory. Once in a while She'll open the door From her world Into theirs Merging The two worlds of thought To see what goes on When opposites mix. She watches With curious and keen eyes The antics The drama The conflict Of human nature That play out before her As all the worlds a stage © 2011 Elaenor Aisling |
