A Dash of Romance

A Dash of Romance

A Poem by Eldee

Lost languages, give irony

in the purest form.

If only Romeo had a feather

Or Macbeth had grown a spine.

Place the feather on her lips,
You'll see her living breath.
Or the king would have foreseen

murder burnishes conscience clean.

Further more, Antigone

could have simply waited fast.
And she and haemon would be lovers last.

But I suppose common sense
Does not belong in classics.

Nice poem. The references were on key and useful. Quite a scholar. Maybe not as much "common sense" than just strong emotions make us careless...to our own disadvantages.

Yay! A witty/funny poem! :] (I've had trouble finding one. o_o)

I really liked this poem & the formatting, too! And love the last line the most, definitely. ^^

I like the references here and its a touching poem I was won over most of all by this section:-
Place the feather on her lips,
You'll see her living breath.
Or the king would have foreseen

Wow this made me laugh. I love the statement at the end how it says "But I suppose common sense
Does not belong in classics." That was the best part out of the whole poem. especially because it was honestly stated.
