You came into my life so unexpectedly

You came into my life so unexpectedly

A Poem by Elie Marie
"

promises

"
You came into my life so unexpectedly
with the promise of
book dates in cozy corners
and chai dates on rainy days.
You came into my life so unexpectedly
I must have recognized you
for we plunged in
as fast as we were unexpected.
You became my demon warrior
hand in hand
we could conquer them all,
together.
You came into my life so unexpectedly
like an ocean's wave
rushing and strong
beautiful in every way.
But together,
we calmed our seas.
Together,
hand in hand
we could conquer it all.

This is - I really like this - it has unsurmountable spirit and belief - if both parties are this sure of their bond then the world is truly their oyster. Its so refreshing to read about a couple who could have it all instead of could have had it all.
This was great !!

So beautiful! The bond of a romantic relationships is so strong, and takes a lot to be broken by others outside of the relationship... usually it's the people in it that break it. And I love how you say, "My demon warrior" almost as if the person has more humanity to them, because you hinted at them having a darker past, maybe having done some wrong things, making them all the more human because of it. :D

I think it takes a lot of similarities and a certain bond to find a demon warrior in someone.

I agree. And no problem. Thanks for the poem. :)
First, let me say WOW about your talent! I have read this work many times now. I so get the content (and love it) but to me free verse is also about rhythm without meter - the words have to flow rhythmically even if they don't rhyme. The third "You came into my life..." seemed forced. We were talking about cozy corners and chai teas - then the ocean's wave. I thought the metaphors were mixed a bit.

But you are a talent. Don't get me wrong - just trying to be real.

A pardner in books and chai tea. A perfect romance. I like the story in the poem and the happy ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
