Passed Away

Passed Away

A Poem by Elise O'Haire

And once when I was but a child
I looked upon a stony grave
Salty tears did flood the ground
My heart broken into a hundred pieces

The days and nights ran together endlessly
My thoughts could not be controlled
For my poor soul did want to die
The feelings of despair crept slowly upon me

She passed away with my own dreams
Beyond the gates of eternity
For once when I was but a child
I mourned the loss of my own dear mother

This isn't true. It was just something I thought of.

Even though that's not true, you mastered the displaying of the character. I liked reading this poem because less than a week ago, a pair twins friends of mine lost their father to a sudden heart attack. My mother went to the funeral today and said that my friends were just messes. For some reason, this poem reminds me of other pain and that we need to try to comfort, but not over-comfort, those who have lost their parents.
