Despite It Being A Blessing

Despite It Being A Blessing

A Poem by Alexia Hampton

Despite it being a blessing no one wants to be here anymore.
The worlds definition isn't clear anymore.
Expressing ones self isn't an option.
Posting a picture with a really deep caption.
Talking about the s**t you live for.
All about that "Gucci, Louis, nah I don't f**k with Dior".
It's like making a fire under water.
That s**t makes no sense.
We live in a generation that evolves with no innocence.
And despite it being a blessing, I don't wanna see anymore.
The crisis of ones mind.
And these self put wars.
The materials we strive for.
The lack of faith in ones heart.
But despite it being a blessing, I don't wanna hear anymore.
The whines of little kids because they don't own an iPhone.
While other kids are dying of hunger or a mess up in their chromosomes.
The complaints against our parents.
Come on now some people don't
have a f*****g home.
All this bullshit talk over getting money and hoes.
All a b***h wants is to abort her child then overdose.
And all the conversations with ma and pa I over here on the phone.
Always end up with "I don't wanna be here anymore"
But despite it being a blessing, no one appreciates it like they did.
Always talkin bout how life was better, if only I stayed a kid.

This is deep. Excellent write, could not agree more. Finally read something that was not about beauty and love, finally something real. Thank you for sharing. *Clap* *Clap* *Clap*

The pleasure was all mine @Ella. Keep writing more.
Wow loved this, so well put together - there is so much crap going on some folks fixated on designer gear and appearance whilst there is so much horror, war, homelessness - you hit the nail on the head with this clever poem - well done.
