Love & H2O

Love & H2O

A Poem by Ellen Hammond

Love resembles H2O,

As its patient ebb and flow,

Smooths a jagged heart of stone.

Inner beauty thus is shown.

Inner beauty, in its turn

Incites passion's sultry burn

Love and lust commingled, rise

Vapor forms before our eyes

Vapor raptured, unaware

The onset of Arctic air

Erose edges once more form

From thick ice of wintry storm

Ice-packed heart is numbed to pain

'Til warm waters stream again

When embraced by H2O

Beware of the undertow

This was wonderful and witty, I love it! It has a hint of humor mixed in with the seriousness of the subject. I always have great admiration for that. It reminds of life because some great wit once said God is the greatest comedian of all playing to an audience who are afraid to laugh. I do hope that poor heart thaws out again! Who knows? Maybe it will be warm enough to break the ice! lol

I can't think of two more lasting elements in this world Water & Love. These two things will be here long after we are gone. Great write with combining the two and using it as you have done. Very creative and witty. I likes!

I like it. I agree with the other reviews. It takes courage to let the heart thaw and let it fill with Love again, without bitterness, let the hurt and grief wash away.
Thank you sweetie for sharing your beautiful poem with us. God Bless

Beautifully done my friend.
The comparison to the various forms of H2O, water, ice, and vapor were great.

Good morning, Ellen, from a cloudy beach. This was the perfect way to begin my busy day. Great job of painting a portrait with words about love and how it ebbs and flows. I love the avatar you've selected. That in itself speaks volumes. Thank you, friend...and keep smilin'...

Ellen...this is just so !!!! Your wonderful way with words has drawn a true picture of our very heart and soul. We never stop to think about it...only when it's pointed out to us, by reading something so special as this, do we realise the ability of the heart or the "power of love.
Going straight to my favs
Thanks for sharing

Dear Ellen,

A lovely piece, and I strongly echo the words of Fabian, this is tremendously witty. And this captures the cycle, the weather if you will, of love. Very insightful. Greatly enjoyed. Wonderfully penned.

Very best regards,

Rick
