Where Is She?

Where Is She?

A Poem by Ellen Hammond
"

It's lonely without her LOL

"

I’ve searched the house in vain.

Completely wracked my brain.

Checked pockets and my shoes

But still can’t find my muse!

I fear that she has fled

And left an empty head.

My mind has too much room

Hushed quiet, like a tomb.

This wintry cold and snow

Are reasons she might go

Shirking every tether,

Seeking warmer weather.

Perhaps she found a lair,

Lies hibernating there,

Dreaming, until the Spring,

Of new songs she’ll then sing.

Is there some convention,

She forgot to mention?

Or did my wayward muse

Stow away on a cruise?

To be able to write your way out of a black hole is a feat in itself, and you have not only accomplished that, you have done it with panache. I've experienced the same thing myself, twice lately, and it's an uncomfortable and annoying feeling. You treat the subject with such humour that I'm sure your muse will return, if only bcause it doesn't want to be left out of the fun. Great stuff!

Wonderful musing about your lost muse!! Surely she was standing there whispering in your ear as you wrote this very entertaining piece. Loved every line of it!!

This poem, certainly, made me smile. Unfortunately, I don't get that writing experience, too often. My muse forces me to write, whether I want to or not; like my mother says, if I don't heed it, it will keep me awake, all night. This was a joy to read and quite well written. I'm adding it to my library!

This was a fun piece, Ellen! It's good to know that we can laugh at ourselves from time to time, especially when our muse seems to have vanished into thin air without a forwarding address.

Nice!
