new adventures

new adventures

A Poem by Emily B
"

for Sahar

"

I never thought

to possess blue eyes

before.

Never imagined

a world not colored

by shining brown.

Never thought

to be one who reflects

two azure lakes.

Imagine my pleasure

to glimpse through pools

that reflect your blue skies.

Amazed

at the adventures

of a conjuring mind.

The reflection of color or feeling. My husband has hazel eyes. I felt that they were the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen when we met. I still do. Color does relay emotion and even feelings. Nature reveals meaning too. Your poem of nature and imagination just was an inspiring dip in a lovely pool. Thanks. I read your poem 'to melt' in the past and thought I'd check this one out when I saw your review on Einstein noodle's page.
Bless you,
Kathy

No, Emily, your poem does makes sense. It's just that I can find the right words, to express myself. Does this makes sense? And it has a beauty flow that enchances it.

Hmm...this may be conjured up of few words, but it elicited the response from many. Just goes to show that eyes speak volumes. I enjoyed the reviews just as much as your poem. Wonderful!

Brown eyes are my favorite, you can't tell from this pick but mine are green not brown, but I always wanted brown eyes, dark like midnight soil where you can barely see the pupils, Ebony eyes, or a warm deep warm brownish red velvet like my sisters, they always wanted mine, lol. Loved the feeling of looking out of something new, something blue.

My first thought was seeing through the eyes of someone different, blue eyes as opposed to brown eyes, a new point of view, like an adventure in imagination... I see an image of blue eyes reflected in brown eyes, like a photograph, makes me want to paint this image. Such a beautiful poem.

Does it have to make sense immediately? Usually poems that have this much visual content and dispassionate tone require a few readings to take it all in, and that's what I found with this one. It's very fine.

I don't know which is the intended interpretation but they all work for me. It particularly reminds me of the delight I had when I began to see the world through my son's blue eyes - a revelation of how wonderful everyday sights can be.
