Mine

Mine

A Poem by Emily Feret
"

This is for the contest about writing a poem that reflects who you are. I like to think I am an individual, but am I?

"
I walk each day, one foot in front of the other, on pavement that has already been claimed
And into buildings, already named
I day dream of things that already exist
I sing songs that have already been written
Living a life of completely unoriginal ideals

But, when my life leads me to utter distress
I take out my pen and start to undress
A piece of writing that, although made of words that have been around a very long time,
is something that is nothing but completely mine.

What a compliment! Thank you!
I have just begun the process of taking out my pen and starting to undress. Again that is. This must go to my favorites.

Trust me it was my pleasure.
I love how the first half you explained things that are already created and the second half your creativity in creating something.

Perfectly stated and oh how true is this collection on lines? You have said what we all think from one time or another. This was very cool and I enjoyed reading it. Very good Emily.

Thank you so much for reading!
I enjoyed this read. You are asking questions that are like your poem. Universally asked by all sentient beings of themselves. We do have commonality. Like snow, we are made of the same material, we respond to conditions in a predictable and common way. We are formed by seemingly random events colliding in this time and place. Yet like the individual flake of snow, each life, each thought even, is special and unique. We live a life that has demensions beyond our understanding. That life has the potential to paint a picture for the universe that reflects Light like no other life has or ever will again. Poetry can show us this lesson well too!
A wonderful write Emily.
