A Birds Song

A Birds Song

A Poem by Emily L

A Birds Song
I lay in my cool bed listening in on the birds
Telling each other secrets or simply tweeting a sweet tune
They always manage to sing me a lovely song
Hidden in the birch just outside my window they stay
Rain or shine always there
When the slaves awaken for his day of grime and toil
his loyal companion awakes as well
A song of freedom and work spills from his beak
For it is the birds who fill their souls with song of hope
Every cool morning in the winter the hymns stop
but always return in the dawn of springtime
A birds song to some may appear to be repetitive
A joy taken for granted
A birds song motivates you to get up
To tell you everything will be alright
There is no other creature who is faithful enough to
rise with you loyal each dawn
The bird wakes up with me every morning
And sings to me a lullaby every night

Hmm, great job, your writing is peaceful. It would be nice to have some punctuation now and then, but I don't really mind.

This poem speaks to me. Every morning, I wake up to the sound of birds chirping outside my window; it helps give me a little dose of positivity when I need it.
What I like about this poem is how it conveys many nuances but still remains beautiful and uplifting at its core ... in other words, the subtleties are what make this piece sing. For example, there's the joy at the beginning, a sense of misfortune when you mention the slave, and the ultimate strength conveyed towards the end. They all blend nicely. Well done.

- William Liston

PS: When you use the phrase "birds song," the word "bird's" needs an apostrophe.

Thank you William I really appreciate your kind, elaborate review, it really means a lot!
This is nice! Really, there are so many little things which we take for granted but in real, if taken into account, they sum up to something meaningful...
Beautifully penned. Loved the feel of this one. 👍
