Moving On

Moving On

A Poem by Emily

The liquid light of the crescent moon

Fades in with silver clouds

The dark blue sky stretches

Frozen in time.

The prairie wind brought fresh air,

Bringing the scent of pale rose petals

From across the world.

A dancing red like flickers across the horizon

A harmless flame, now

A growling fire.

Golden fingerprints dance in the sky

The grass burned and charred.

And as the rain begins to pour,

The flame dwindles in the night,

And the cries of hatred and pain

Echo across the land.

I turn my back on the nightmare,

Making no move to help,

Because I know that they were strong

In the beginning

And what grows from the ashes,

Will be a worth more than

What had been destroyed.

Nice metaphors, I really liked this read.

I wondered at first why it bore the title it does.
But in the fourth verse it struck me.

It's always a struggle to move on, as it is to watch your known world fall into ashes.
knowing you have to rebuild creates the opportunity to improve.

The imagery is strong, great job!
