Someone To Watch Over Me

Behind the thin walls,
I fear you don’t sleep anymore.
It tears me apart,
More than I could ever show you.
Behind the small talk,
I feel you can’t say what you want.
No one is listening,
Though I still want to.

Take my hand, we’ll find you a better place.
You don’t have to believe in anything but yourself.
And I know I can never truly understand what it is you feel,
But at least I can finally try to love what you are.

So let me know,
And I could try to be everything you’ve wished for,
Someone to watch over you
When all seems lost.

You’re drifting farther,
Towards the place from which you can’t return.
My heart is broken,
I’ve loved you more than this.
You’re getting colder,
But your heart still beats with warmth and love.
All you need is someone to embrace it.

Take my hand, don’t make me watch you fall.
You don’t have to be anyone other than yourself.
And I know sometimes it’s hard to find anything that’s beautiful,
But somewhere inside, could you try to see the light?

Let me in,
And I could try to be the stranger that you’ve sought,
Someone to watch over you
When hope is gone.

It’s too easy to leave me behind.
Is there life left here at all?
Bring me home; I’m done fighting this.
All I want to be is at peace with the world…

I know it hurts to feel alone.
Just know, you were never alone.

As you try to bind the pieces of my shattered heart,
Someone to watch over me
