Assumptions

Assumptions

A Poem by Emma
"

Wrote this after reading Robert Ray's poem Judged on here-which I think is incredible

"
Purple swelling.
Red veins weave from the iris.
Bloodshot and dark.
Abused.

Platform heels, leather skirt,
ribs showing.
Silver chain leading down...
Asked for it.

Hair slicked back by
nature's gel.
Thin and snapped.
Given up.

Stained a*s,
scuffed shoes,
stone cold face.
Homeless.

Rounding stomach,
hunched and heavy.
Stealing taxes.

Engraved marking on wrist.
Prison.

Branded bag.
Thief.

W***e.

Dyslexic.

Bipolar.

I'm bored now.

Powerful piece!

Wow! Powerful piece, Emma. The imagery is extraordinarily vivid, bringing forward past glimpses, assumptions, and judgments about people not truly known or understood. Oh, how our narrow minds like to interpret this vast world. Impressive work.
