A song for the river

A song for the river

A Poem by EmpressPoetess
"

a poem about the river

"

She has been here, it seems, forever
who knows the very hour of her birth?
She has given birth to life itself
THE RIVER
As the flowing river goes
so my thoughts do ripple forth
whisper soft, as the river's voice
in wonder of her, am I
as she travels evermore
bringing secrets from far off places
that no one can know but she
THE RIVER
Taking a fragment of our laughter,
our hopes, our fears, our joys and our tears
to be shared with those who partake
of the crystal fluid of her wisdom
THE RIVER
She is filled with the knowledge of ageless times
of yearnings from the past
Eloquently she sings on a breathless note
the music, the mystery of her depths
THE RIVER
Winter nights find her still,
resting under snow's white sheet
Summer nights find her joyeous
shimmering like smokey glass, warm and misty
THE RIVER
Unendingly, she whispers as she goes
on her neverending journey, on and on
SHE FLOWS.

beautifully written piece, great choice of phrase and a unique insight into a wondeful part of our world we take for granted, the simple river...
