My trek through depression's fire

My trek through depression's fire

A Poem by EmpressPoetess
"

As real as it gets!

"

Reaching from the darkness I did arise

As my life flashed in front of my eyes

This festering itch of anguish I scour

With salves of healing words, hour on hour

Backwards thinking, I try to fetch the past

My mind searches, hungering to heal fast

Digging through pain filled mental trash

But time burns that old trash into ash

Feed me, please, from wisdom’s tree

That I may become filled with serenity

Pick the chards of reflection’s glass

From my deeply wounded, jaded past

Lay me down where the green grass grows

Comfort me where peaceful water flows

Let me sip from it’s cool, healing recesses

Where I may find relief from lives stresses

The anguish and uncertainty of life oozes onto the page and longs for relief... the imagery of the 23rd Psalm in the last verse is a fitting prayer for a mind that wants to know the wisdom that helps us to cope with the wounds... A telling and heartfelt write
