What you owe me

this may be a bit confusing at first, but it will slowly start to make sense

Here i stand,

 here i tell you after years of knowing you,

 after years of bottling up these words,

after years of you behaving like this.

I guess you thought everything was fine between us 

Looking back
you were a joy to be around, back when we were both younger. 

We would see each other on a daily basis

and during that time i was glad to be around you.

When you came by i would smile and you would do as well.

However,things change.
Things change and so do people.
Your change wasint an improvement 

You started to make false promises,

and when i called you about why you didint keep your promise, you wouldint answer.
You would disappear for weeks at a time, sometimes months.
Often you would show up only if you needed a favor.

You owe me.
You have owed me for quite some time now.
Often i try to collect but you respond with 
"I dont owe you anything".

Saying those words hurt me.
Saying that means that you really think less of me.
Now every time i see you, i hold back the urge to punch you with all of my might.
Now i wear a false smile when you rarely show up.

Now I stand before you with a red face,swollen eyes, and running tears.
You look at me and tell me to be a man.
Well how would i know how to be a man when one never raised me "Dad!"

"Why dont you just leave me alone and go back to your other family"!
"Cause its obvious you never really cared about me".

Wow, this is a really great poem man. Really charged with emotion, and it had a nice flow to it. Feeling abandoned and uncared for can be difficult. Particularly if it's by someone you know should be close by right but is not. Pain that breaks us, pain that shapes us, pain that makes us strong. Whither this is for the best is hard to say, but at least it's some protection from the pain
