Every single day

Every single day

A Poem by Mehak Mushtaq

Every single day
I pray to keep you by my side, today.
And I wake up every night
fighting away the ghosts of love.
But every single word you say
is not enough.
Not, until, I fall in love
with your silence, too.

From where you look at me,
I look plain.
No love in my heart,
no pain in my eyes.
Have a look at my soul
it's so full, I don't even need you.
Yet again, every single day
I pray to keep you by my side, today.

Running from the past mistakes,
they've brought me to you.
Breathless, I reach out for your hand.
You hold me,
only to leave me with my fears again.
And if love had a meaning,
we would have known.
With every single tear,
I bid farewell to all my fears.

And I wake up every night
fighting away the ghosts of love.

A revealing write. So poignant, full of love and sorrow... sad, but there is a bit of holding on to hope that lingers for one's inner being. Beautifully penned.

This is beautiful and poignant. When we cannot express the depth of our feeling or the immediacy of our needs, all that can be interpreted is the look on the face. So inadequate. What a shame we are not taught from childhood to shout our love and cherish the connections we make.

Hauntingly beautiful my friend, it's as if someone is speaking from beyond in a reassuring and loving voice...

This is lovely but sad Mehak, there is a lot more too us as people than what meets the eye. This is beautiful.

Thank you, sir.
Mehak, this is beautiful but sad. I amy appear plain but peer into my soul, for it is full. Lovely, and in the end there is hope, a tiny flickering of light that keeps us going and wanting.
