Below The Horizon

Below The Horizon

A Poem by Mehak Mushtaq

We still hold hands
and look into each other
The sweet song still plays
and we are still in motion
still with the beats.
You still come back home
and then throw tantrums.
You walk away sometimes
and still dance on your knees.
We've carved a little reality
from the corners of your dreams
and we live in a beautiful house
a lake flows in front of it
and we still play in the waters
still fall ill.
I'm still your nurse
nursing the broken of your dreams.
You still seat me on a chair
and sing me lovely songs.
Now, you're just asleep,
here in my arms.
All, below the horizon.
We still run those cars
chasing stars.
And live those dreams
below the horizon.
'cause everything is perfect
and in place,
below the horizon.
We wake up every morning
and then, go to sleep.
Below the horizon.
It's all virtual
up, above here.
But below the horizon
is my reality.

We've carved a little reality
from the corners of your dreams

-I like this line.

The poem is absolutely lovely! So dreamy with a wistful note. And the repetition of "below the horizon" provides a dramatic effect. Well done!

Thank you, Keith.
Feels more dreamlike that reality...below the horizon where you're still reaching for the stars. A lovely read, I could go many places with this one Mehak.
