I'm Sorry

I'm Sorry

A Poem by Evelynn

I never saw it coming

I never even knew

I thought you were so happy

Can’t believe that wasn’t true

I didn’t know you were in pain

I didn’t see your tears

I thought you were fine

But you’ve been acting for years

I’ve read your letter

Over and over again

I read about your hurt

I should have known by then

I could’ve tried to save you

If only I could see

You should still be with us

But you left this world, and me

So, I’m sorry

I’m sorry for being blind

I’m sorry, so sorry

Sorry for not questioning those lines

Those songs you wrote

Always about death

About loving and losing

And taking your last breath

As you wished

I will say

You did well

Until my final days

But I won’t cry

Cause you wouldn’t want me to

And even if tears gather in my eyes

I won’t let them leak through

Many times I've thought about writing something to address how it must feel when you think you know & love someone, but then something drastic happens, & you find out you really didn't know that person at all. I can't imagine how disturbing that would be to live thru. Your poem delivers the strong intensity powering such feelings as you describe. Honestly, the sing-song rhythm (mostly toward the beginning) doesn't work for such a dramatic message, but overall your poetic style is nicely crafted (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This poem is so hauntingly heartbreaking and even shocking. I've never experienced a tragedy of the likes described here but I feel as if I am experiencing your pain with every line. The only issue I noticed at all was the formatting of the text but that is so minor! Overall, a beautiful piece that gave me chills

Holy shmoke! This did not end up being what I thought it was going to be! To be honest, it has some musicality issues (and I believe the last line was intended to say "let them leak through" since you're referring to tears - plural), but overall this is powerful. wow! Well done!

O wow. I loved your poem, the thought and emotions you put into it where exceptional. You did a good job with such an emotional poem, and ended it exactly like Jonghyun would have wanted.

Thanks, it means a lot
A very sad poem dear Evelynn. I lost two brothers to suicide. No-one knew they were struggling. Their death taught me. To listen and to pay attention. Thank you for sharing your amazing poetry and thoughts.
