Pages crinkled and old
The strong smell of dust and mold
Words are faded and gray
Are just like an old woman’s final day
Remembrance of her younger years
When her pages were crystal clear
She thumbs through her senior prom
Where she found her husband oh so calm
Their marriage was sweet
Like the first time a chapter was complete
Twenty years flew by in a blink of an eye
Three little girls were off to college with a good-bye
The old woman smiles seeing the last chapters of her life
She saw that she was a good mother and wife
Retirement the chapter to the last
Wasting the day catching bass
Her husband nice as can died five years before
Had a heart attack at the shore
The page has arrived
She knows what she has survived.
The book of life comes to a close
She had a good life and it shows
