L'Automne

L'Automne

A Poem by E.V. Black

A serenity here

is what I see.

A silent yearning

for the changing colors.

Red, orange,

gold, and brown...

emerging from the faded green.

The wind speaks to

the spirit within.

The past lies here,

resting in peace.

No one disturbs

the calm tranquility

of this world

that's all my own.

L'automne...

sweet wishes for you.

An unchanging dance

in the forest of life.

Change comes larger

than what we expected before.

Grow, die, sleep...

forever all in one.

You may not

feel the change

taking over you now,

but I assure you

that there's nothing

to fear.

Turning of the leaves,

a sweet surrender

to l'hiver

as the days shorten

to the point of the

coming darkness.

Chase away the spirits,

they come back anyway.

The darkness is not forever

in this forest of life.

Soon warmth will blossom

and greet you with

open arms.

Soon, my love, soon.

Change is right before

you in l'automne.

Author's Note

E.V. Black
I think seasons are some of nature's finest masterpieces. Fall is one of my favorite seasons.
The title is French for autumn and "l'hiver" means winter.
