Summer

Summer

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

I love summer, don't you?

"

The pulsing heat

warms my muscles

and makes me believe

in similar days past.

Once summer was

a boring season

filled with days and days

of repetition.

Now it is a favorite.

Would it not be

for these summer days,

there would be no peace.

Summer may be loved

because it is akin to life.

One moment its days

are sunny and bright.

The next?

Bleak, rainy, and hopeless.

Yet, when all seems lost,

summer surprises its children

with a following day

full of loveliness.

These summer days

are a favorite.

Laughter, love, and life

live within its short period.

Some of the best times

to be had are here.

though some may well

be forgotten in light of

worse things.

Summer is here

in memory and in form

always.
