Perfect Symmetry

Perfect Symmetry

A Poem by E.V. Black
"

By centimeters and inches, our bodies correspond. Mathematical calculations shape each response for them to fit.

"

By centimeters and inches,

our bodies correspond.

Mathematical calculations

shape each response

for them to fit.

Lips to lips,

we measure and mold.

Hands to hands,

we shape and twist.

Touch by touch,

each other’s flesh melts,

natural clay in the hands

of a sculptor,

to create a beautiful statue

of lovers entwined

in a befuddling entanglement

of draped arms

and hooked legs.

What perfect science,

where chemicals react

and pieces shape,

makes us truly one!

What wonderful arithmetic

multiplies passion and

divides other thoughts

in light of the moment!

Such eyes of yours

are mine in likeness.

Such lips

belong upon mine,

pressed together and

pleasantly smacking like

two ripe and succulent strawberries.

Such hands

to weave and to thread through

in escalating fire,

which burns to escape

from the depths of my belly.

No earthly estimate,

in math or in measurement,

does fully encompass

the immortal feeling between

two aching bodies.

To fit together such as this,

two pieces to complete

the puzzle,

is no scientific matter.

Surely, and purely,

we are perfect symmetry.

Author's Note

E.V. Black
Truth be told, this was really hard to write. I had an idea of where to begin, but I scratched out beginning after beginning until I finally found the right words. I wanted it to be the science of love and lust, with various allusions to math and science. I consider this to be one of my best pieces.

Please enjoy it! I love it myself. It's so wonderful, isn't it?

This IS wonderful! Just wanted to tell ya that! I'm no good at critiquing poetry so that's all I got. I especially loved the first half of the last stanza.

This is done with great intelligence. I love the mathematical references in this piece that are wrapped in sensual aspects as well. This is a unique piece done with great though and intelligence poured into it.

Symmetry can be very hard to find, if one is looking in the wrong places.
Nice writing!

I like how you took the idea of symmetry, toyed with it in wondrous ways and then escalated it to something much more.

Perfect the way ones lips fit anothers forming a complete union in the form of a kiss as you know from my work I love the art of expressing the kiss in words although I always feel I have done it an injustice, loved the way you set about expressing yours, beautifully done. Keep em' coming
