My first few years in secondary school were really weird, because I somehow managed to turn from one of the most badly behaved and stupid students, into one of the most polite and behaved students!

Let’s start out at the beginning. I go to Waterhead Academy, a mixed raced school based in Oldham. My first day in school was really nerve racking, the only person I knew was Olivia, she and I had grown up together, but apart from her, I was alone, nobody to talk to. The new students were called into the hall for a welcome assembly and to be introduced to our new form teachers. I was put into Mr Whiteheads form, for some reason, his room always smelt of Haribo sweets. When I was sent to my new form room, there was nobody there at all that I knew, we were all put into a seating plan and I was sat next to 2 girls, Daniele and Natasha, who actually became some-what good friends of mine.

Eventually I began to make new friends in my form ones who would become the kind of best friends anyone could wish for, Tammii, Jack, Callum, Owen and Kieran. I had started talking to Tammii at first when we would sit next to one another in the assembly hall, then we made friends with the others, Jack, Callum and Kieran, Owen wasn’t actually in our form class, he comes along later on.

I suppose things started to go downhill when I began to be bullied in my English class. It was really only petty things like name calling. Constantly I would be called gay or be referred to as “Ewan-pooan”. I started to bottle all the anger and hatred for the other kids inside me and for a kid at my age that was a really stupid thing to do, because obviously I was young and didn’t really know how to manage it at all.
