As You Left It

As You Left It

A Poem by DrD
"

Love never really disappears

"

Two hairpins rest beside the bathroom basin.

A Sunday paper (two weeks old)

Still is on the sofa.

Magazines you forgot to read

Await you exactly where you left them.

There is a strand of your hair. . . .

A new box of kleenex. . . .

Two plants. . . .

A collection of letters. . . .

And me.

It is all as you left it. . . .

Especially me.

We can't always let go .. and maybe we shouldn't
I have every little thing right in it's place
Just the way He left it
I'll have to move someday soon
Don't know if I'll make it out, alive
I can't bare the loss .. again

There you go pulling those old heartstrings again ..
A touching write David ... Jazzy xx

Good morning and thanks , Frieda.
This is really beautiful, I love the sentiment, and the specific details sound very good. Although, I would say that the back-to-back mention of the newspaper and the "papers" (I'm assuming grading students' papers?) feels a bit strange.

Thanks, Jo. Bad time, good memories
this is amazingly complex and simple at the same time. just a simple description of a place and a time, but the emotions involved are so complex and deep. really profound writing. i can't say any more about loss than what you've expressed here. lovely and sad.
