Do You Really Have Something To Say?

Do You Really Have Something To Say?

A Poem by F.Gentil
"

My question to all

"
Do you really have something to say?
Not metaphors or similes,
Personification or imagery,
I mean words that speak to me.
That whisper in my ears like a little kid telling a secret.
A secret that is truth behind the illusion of this world's deception.

Do you really have something to say?
Not lines or verses that you want to rhyme
Or lines that you feel define,
the perception of something beyond,
the reality of the times.
Or are you still blind?

Do you really have something to say?
Because as I click and read
and read and click,
I'm looking for something that sticks to my bones
Like a steak and potato... meat for my soul,
Because Lord knows, these words, these phrases I'm reading are starting to getting old.

Do you really have something to say?
Or would you rather remain cliche'.
Where is authentic writing, originality that breaks the rules,
Challenges all the ways you learned to speak in school.
I'm wanting to read about real love,
not this fake stuff
This powdery sugary everything is sweet like cake stuff,
Blow my mind with what love is,
Or are you a hopeless romantic trying to imagine it?

Let me read the real you,
because this version of you is like the version of the other person I just read,
Words that change by authors that repeat same ole' lines,
Nothing new same message that's constantly said,
No imprint of your own, just an everlasting repetitive song,
Of a majority of poets, writers, lost in the conformity of this decrepit world,
using the power of words. . .
For meaningless messages.
With lack of true authentic expression

So.....
Do you really have something to say?

Well versed in the lines... the repeating stanza all by itself:

Do you really have something to say?

This speaks volumes... the way you're encouraging the writer to be more... give a bit of what life is really like in the written words... the concept of the theme reads like someone is on a podium saying this aloud... just the way the whole write conveys to the reader...

F, you have said some things that I am just not brave enough to do. I really, really appreciate that you did. The, 'powdery sugary everything is sweet like cake stuff' line had me nodding. I just finished up a contest that asked for love poems without using the word love. I wanted fresh and new. In fact, I look for fresh and new poetry every single day. What a wonder when a little gem crosses my path. Thank you so much for submitting and congrats on taking Silver! Angi~

This piece has awesome flow! I love the repetition of the line
Do you really have something to say? It breaks up each thought, but each stanza
Still is so perfectly intertwined. Lovely

Very cool and relevant for here on the WC, and I agree wholeheartedly. I want to read poetry about what is real and not just pretty words making pretty paintings, vibrant colors over empty statements... The core, the bone, I seek that too. And well versed, this was too...

i really do like this, the depth it provokes to the questions it gives...
I have been writing not that long, because before expressing myself in words never come up to me as comforting as it is now...

as an artist i have this urge to create, i sketch and paint it many times as possible until my heart is somehow satisfied... it's somehow an escape for me from the outside world...

as a poet, i become more understanding how life goes... understand better how human nature works, and i'm still learning... lastly i understand better who i am, through my piece i see the me that i haven't seen myself, i said this before: my poetry are fragments of my soul, scattered all over the pieces i had made...

I said this to one of my piece: My life is a cliché; at least I don’t feel alone in this world.
because perhaps: Our lives can be relateable, but it is not comparable... we are unique in many different ways...

they say nothing is new in the literature world but you can always be unique in your own way of thinking..
