I am here, Paradise Lost!

I am here, Paradise Lost!

A Poem by FLCJournPress
"

"I was inspired by Jose Rizal's Me Ultimo Adios (My Last Farewell). I wrote this poem to portray my willingness to sacrifice everything, even my own life, for my country." -Bryan Ezra Gonzales

"

I am here, paradise lost!

Take this life that I offer

I will not count the cost

You will longer suffer

I give myself to you

Use me and be free

Leave my body cold as dew

Yours is the soul in me

My soul, young and fresh

With it, make yourself great

In the womb, God made it flesh

Reigning high is my faith

I will go to the battlefield

The enemy, strong and ruthless

Strip me of this sword and shield

My courage is boundless

If I have to embrace death

Let it be, let it be so

The sun must somehow set

She will rise again tomorrow

Leave my name unsung

If ever you will remember

Rip my memory off your tongue

My soul will live forever

My name is a burden

I have no use for reputation

It has no place in Heaven

Your freedom is my intention

Do not forget my honor

I forged it with my blood

But if you will forget my vigor

Feed it to the mud

The sky will exalt my vigor

Day will welcome rain

The mud will spit my honor

Relieve me from this pain

The moon will caress your eyes

Night will bow at your sight

Stars will dress your skies

They will shine bright

Heaven will sing of glory

The wind will praise you

A magnificent sight you will be

Your beauty, vibrant and new

You will bloom in your youth

My soul will be your stem

You will bear good fruit

Men will eat them

I am here, paradise lost!

Take this life that I offer

I will not count the cost

You will no longer suffer
